Just kidding. I am still resting. And resting.

Today is a half day at school, so I'm thinking it might be a good afternoon to take a walk downtown. The trees and flowers are beginning to bud, though the skies are dark this morning. More rain? Possibly. I won't complain given that our New England and friends farther north have more snow. (And I don't even want to hear about you enjoying sunny days by the pool, Rachel and David.)
Brent had a fun take on Chris's suggestion, I Dare You ...a non-fitness, I Dare You. Hmmm, one of the more difficult things for me is walking into a restaurant and eating alone. With all my travel coming up, I need to get used to it. So, I'm challenging myself to go out this weekend:) And I'm going to spend lots of money on myself and have a lovely time!

I'm the most awkward person when I eat alone. If I don't bring reading materials, I end up looking like a terrorist plotting something, or at least a stalker. It's horrible.
Good luck.

i'm with chris. i travel on occasion and usually for weeks at a time, so i end up eating quite a few meals solo. the worst was in london at a nice italian resturaunt the night before my half marathon. numerous waiters came up to me and asked me if i was waiting for someone. bring reading material. you can only feign interest in the decorations for so long.
BUT...there's something about doing things like that solo that is fun. it's so contrary to what people expect, it's fun to think about what people are thinking about what you're thinking...i think.

I think it's a great idea to challenge yourself to something new while you're not running. You end up with a sense of accomplishment rather than focusing on what you aren't able to do right now.

If I eat alone I always try to eat at the bar. It's definitely more entertaining because the traffic is quicker to turn over and the tenders are always busy and sometimes engaging. Only thing better may be having a (new/old) friend with you at the bar.
Enjoy!

What? Hey! That's not challenging. You need to change that to eating bad food alone in a sleazy bar. There ya go. :)

I'm with Jeff and Chris, bring the reading material indeed when eating alone. I too used to travel alot and eating at the mess 3 times a day sucks so off I'd go to the local restaraunts...scare the locals etc. LOL Glad to hear you are taking that much needed rest Susan.

Hmm... I'm still hoping for those days by the pool... but we seem to have transitioned from crisp, perfect days to heavy humidity and 85 degrees by ten a.m. I think we Florida runners are the exact opposite of everyone else in the country-- in the summer, we'll probably be sneaking off to do the treadmill in air conditioned comfort, rather than running when the heat index is 105...
Looking forward to hear how it goes with your dare!

I should learn to make challenges like this for myself.
I rarely eat out alone but on occasion I have to do it for work. I never mind because I like to watch people but I do miss my family terribly, especially when I'm out eating.

I used to eat out quite a bit by myself, but I'm really out of practice anymore. I think it's great that you are challenging yourself, but yeah, it's hard. I tend to bring more reading material with me than I could read during a day at the airport in general, as well as a palm, a tablet, some knitting, etc--this is in general, as in my usual commute to work, so having all of that on hand probably sets me up to be that very eccentric woman off eating by herself.
Good luck with the I dare you :)

I actually enjoy eating out alone. You should try it out soon, get all dressed up and go to a nice restaurant. Take a small notebook and draw stick figures, if anyone asks tell them you are a food critic.
